What is a backflow?
A backflow prevention device is used to protect your potable water supplies from contamination due to backflow and back siphonage. It essentially prevents water, once in your home or business, from flowing backwards. It keeps the water you drink safe and clean. It actively prevents water from becoming contaminated due to backflow and back siphonage.
Why do backflows need to be tested?
In most municipalities, backflow devices are required by law to be tested annually. Every home, commercial building or condo unit has a backflow prevention device. These devices protect domestic drinking water systems, irrigation systems and fire suppression systems. San Juan Backflow Services is here to keep you in compliance.
What do we test?
A backflow test involves gauging the resistance of springs located in the device. There are required and specified minimum pressure readings that these springs must adhere to. Over time, hard water and debris can build up. Springs can wear out. These problems prevent the performance of these crucial devices.
A backflow test will take approximately an hour. It does require your water to be turned off for a short period of time.

We service most towns in Southwest Colorado, including: Telluride & Mountain Village, Ridgway, Norwood, Montrose, Ouray, Silverton, Durango, Cortez and Dolores. If you need service outside of these towns, give us a call and we’ll work hard to get to you. Note that we do not schedule service in each town every day of the week. We get to most locations at least once a week for your convenience.
